How do I connect WhatsApp?

Connect a WhatsApp number with the number ID and permanent access token from Meta; the assistant of the flow you choose replies.

What the WhatsApp integration gives you

When a customer writes to your WhatsApp number, the message goes to the flow you chose and the assistant replies; the last 12 messages are used as context. Only text messages are handled; photos and voice messages get no reply.

You can connect several numbers; each replies with the flow you chose for it.

Before you start: the Meta side

The WhatsApp Business account, a phone number and the app review are done at Meta. You need the number's ID (Phone number ID) and a permanent access token from the Meta dashboard.

You also need a flow to reply; if there is none, the page asks you to create one first.

Connecting step by step

The Owner or an Admin can do this.

  1. On Integrations → WhatsApp, open the “Connect a number” form.
  2. Enter the Phone number ID from the Meta dashboard in “Phone number ID”.
  3. Enter the token from your Meta app in “Permanent access token”. It is stored encrypted and never shown again.
  4. Pick the flow in “Flow that replies” and press “Save”.
  5. The number is added to “Connected numbers”. Enter the “Webhook URL” and “Verify token” shown under it in your Meta app's webhook settings. Until you do, incoming messages don't reach agenola.

WhatsApp actions in flows

The flow step actions are “Send message”, “Send template message” and “Send media”; the assistant can also use them from the AI Assistant step's “Integrations” tab.

  • These actions send from your number, and the recipient can be a number the visitor typed; they don't run until “I understand this step sends from my account” is ticked on the step.
  • A workspace can send at most 100 sends per hour; other sending actions such as SMS, calls and email count toward the same limit.
  • Any visitor answer you put in the message goes out in your name. We recommend limiting the countries you can send to in your provider's settings.

Disconnecting

In “Connected numbers”, press “Disconnect” next to the number and confirm. Messages from that number are no longer answered.
