How do I connect Twilio SMS?

What Twilio SMS gives you

When a customer texts your Twilio number, the message goes to the flow you chose and the assistant replies by SMS. You can connect several numbers; each replies with its own flow. Your flows can also send SMS and make calls.

Every incoming SMS and every reply is billed separately by Twilio.

Connecting step by step

The Owner or an Admin can do this. You need a flow first.

1. Sign in at console.twilio.com and copy the Account SID and Auth Token from the home page.
2. On Integrations → Twilio, paste them into “Account SID” and “Auth Token” in the “Connect a number” form.
3. Press “Fetch numbers”. Your account is verified and your numbers are listed.
4. Pick the number the assistant answers on in “Number” and the flow in “Flow that replies”, then press “Connect”.

Twilio actions in flows

The flow step actions are “Send SMS” and “Make a call”; the assistant can also use them from the AI Assistant step's “Integrations” tab.

• These actions send from your number; they don't run until “I understand this step sends from my account” is ticked on the step.
• A workspace can send at most 100 sends per hour; other sending actions such as WhatsApp and email count toward the same limit.
• To prevent unwanted sends to premium numbers, we recommend limiting the countries you can send to in your Twilio settings.

Troubleshooting and disconnecting

• “Wrong Account SID or Auth Token”: copy the values again from the Twilio console home page.
• “This account has no numbers”: get a number in the Twilio console and try again.
• Only text messages are handled.
• To disconnect, press “Disconnect” in “Connected numbers”; messages from that number are no longer answered.
