How do I translate a flow into English and Arabic?
Set the flow language, switch the editing language, translate missing texts in one click and correct translations by hand.
How languages work
A flow can be offered in Turkish, English and Arabic. You write the texts in one language (the “Flow language”); the other languages are translations of it. Visitors see the flow in their language; if a text has no translation, it is shown in the flow language.
Language settings are in the language strip above the canvas on the “Editor” tab: the Türkçe / English / العربية buttons choose the “Editing language”, and the one with a dot is the language the flow is written in. Next to them, the list is the “Flow language”, and the last button is “Translate”.
Translating a flow
- Write and finish the texts in the flow language.
- Click “Translate”. The button shows how many texts need translation. Only new or changed texts are machine-translated into the other two languages.
- When it's done, the editor switches to a translated language; review the texts and correct them directly in the boxes if needed.
- Click “Save”. Translations don't reach the live flow until you save.
If some texts couldn't be translated, a warning tells you so; click again to translate only the remaining ones. If everything is up to date, you see “Translations are up to date”.
Correcting and retranslating
While editing another language, the boxes show that language's text, and what you type is saved as its translation. Every text visitors see can be translated: the flow name, on-screen texts, options, button labels and so on.
When you change an original text, its translation box shows “The original text changed; this translation may be outdated”, and it is retranslated the next time you click “Translate”.
“Retranslate everything” in the “More translation options” menu redoes all translations, including the ones you corrected by hand. You can undo it if you don't like the result.
Changing the flow language
If you actually wrote the texts in another language, pick the right one in the “Flow language” list. If the flow already has translations in that language, you are asked how to change it:
- “Use the {locale} translations as the original text”: that language's translations become the original, and the current texts stay as the old language's translation.
- “The texts are already in {locale}, just fix the language”: only the label is corrected; that language's translations are removed, and other languages keep theirs.
Picking the right flow language matters: translations are made from it, and texts without a translation are shown to visitors in it.
Which language does a visitor see?
If the public link has a language prefix (for example /en/… or /ar/…), the flow opens in that language. Without a prefix, the visitor's browser language is used if the flow offers it, otherwise the flow language. Visitors can switch with the language selector on the page. In Arabic the page is shown right to left.
Only the Owner and Admins can change translations and the flow language; other roles can switch languages only to view them.
